“Gran Caterina”

Due semani fa, dopo la mia gita a Healdsburg, CA, ho passato venerdí a Vintage, un piccolo bar di vino sul Santana Row a San Jose,CA. Quella noche il mio solo intenzione era uscire la mia casa e godere dei vini e osservazione delle gente per circa un’ ora. Cuando sono arrivato, mi sono seduto  sul patio e ho cominciato esplorare il Gran Caterina (Great Kate) volo di vino. Kathryn Kennedy é un vigneto in le montagne di Santa Cruz ma loro non sono spesso pubblico per degustazione di vino. Y perché non sono stato al vigneto durante gli weekend di passporte, ho deciso prendere la opportunitá per provare i vini quella noche.

Il volo era interessante. C’era tre vini, un 2008 chardonnay, un 2006 syrah, e una miscela che si chiama Lateral. Tutti tre vini mi ho impressionato ma alla fine ho bevuto un’ altro pieno di bicchiere del Syrah. Mentre cominciavo il mio volo, mi accompagnava per un uomo, che anche provava il stesso volo. Alla fine, ho chiacchierato con Koffi, una persona che é nato in Africa ed é un’ istruttore, che vive adesso a Pescadero, CA é fa vino come attivitá. Mi ha raccomandato un vigneto che si chiama Ventana che devo visitare la prossima volta che sono a Carmel, CA. Anche mi ha detto dei vini che suo vigneto produce a Half Moon Bay, CA. Un giorno o l’altro, visiteró suo vigneto.

Nonostante, dopo ho fatto quattro chiacchiere con lui per cerca due ore, mi ha offerto la opportunitá per raggiungere lui e sugli altri aficionadi a uno gruppo il sabato. Il gruppo si ha formato da una classe che si chiama “Geology of Winemaking” che insegnava a Stanford. Il sabato, il gruppo averanno una piccola riunione tra amici e tutti potranno un vino di Francia per provare e di che chiacchiere. Sono eccitato e dovrebbe divertimento. Il vino che potreró é uno che ho bevuto due volte che si chiama Les Duex Rives da la zone che si chiama Corbières in il sud di Francia lungo la costa di Mediterraneo. Con speranza, avró un’ altra buona esperienza di vino e un’ altra storia per dire.

In inglese: A couple of weeks ago before my day trip to Healdsburg, CA, I spent a Friday night at Vintage (a little wine bar on Santana Row in San Jose, CA). That night my only intention was to get out of the house and enjoy some wine and people watching for an hour or so. Once I arrived, I sat on the patio and began to explore the “Great Kate” wine flight. Kathryn Kennedy is a winery in the Santa Cruz Mountains but they are not often open to the public for tasting. And since I had never been to the winery during the famous Passport Weekends, I decided to take the opportunity to try the wines that night.

The flight was interesting. There were three wines, a 2008 chardonnay, a 2006 Syrah, and a 2005 blend called Lateral. All three wines impressed me but I ended up having another full glass of the Syrah. While I was starting my “flight” I was accompanied by a gentleman, who was also trying the same flight. In the end, I chatted with Koffi, an african-born, camp instructor, who is now living in Pescadero, CA and making wine on the side. He recommended a winery called Ventana that I should visit the next time I’m in Carmel, CA. He also told me about the wines that his winery produces in Half Moon Bay, CA. Some day, I will have to visit his winery.

However, after chatting with him for nearly two hours, he offered me the chance to join him and his other wine aficionados at a small gathering this Saturday. The group was formed from a Geology of Winemaking class that used to be taught at Stanford. This Saturday the group is having a small gathering and everyone is going to bring a French wine to try and chat about. I’m excited and it should be fun. The wine I’m going to bring is one I’ve had a couple of times…Les Duex Rives from the Corbières region in southern France along the Meditteranean Coast. Hopefully, I’ll have have another good wine experience and another great story to tell.
